Hey, Jude?

Have you heard? Judith Regan, of ReganBooks (an imprint to HarperCollins) has published O.J. Simpson’s “If I Did It.”  Regan says she decided to publish the book because she is a victim of domestic violence and she thought the money would go to O.J.’s children.  According to this cnn story,

“What I wanted was closure, not money,” she wrote.

“I made the decision to publish this book, and to sit face to face with the killer, because I wanted him, and the men who broke my heart and your hearts, to tell the truth, to confess their sins, to do penance and to amend their lives,” she said.

Having worked in the publishing industry, here’s one thing I know. The author doesn’t get the majority of the dough. The author gets – what -  10% or 15% at best? So… is ReganBooks giving “their” profit ‘to the children,’ too? Or is the publisher’s profit just an accidental benefit?
